Nate Purcell named Bethel Park Rotary’s October Student of the Month

Bethel Park High School senior Nathan Purcell was named the Bethel Park Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for October, recognized for his academic excellence, leadership, and community service at a ceremony at The Garden Restaurant.

Purcell carries a 4.53 GPA while balancing a full slate of activities. On the football field, he starts at left guard for the Black Hawks. He also competes in field events for the indoor and outdoor track teams.

Off the field, Purcell serves as treasurer of the National Honor Society, where he helps coordinate the chapter’s largest fundraiser — a community blood drive — and is currently working with NHS to plan an additional fundraiser in partnership with UPMC. He is also a member of Best Buddies.

Purcell’s service extends into the community. He volunteers at youth football camps and participates each April in a cleanup of Lions Park, clearing mulch and maintaining the wooded areas of the grounds.

After graduation, Purcell plans to attend St. Vincent College, where he will continue his football career while pursuing a degree in aviation, focusing on professional piloting and aviation business management.

He is the son of Rachel and Bill Purcell and the brother of Payton Purcell, who plans to attend Washington & Jefferson College and major in early childhood education.
