It's been win after win for the incredible girls varsity tennis team! The team is currently in first place in their section with a perfect 6-0 record.
Their only loss came against non-section opponent Shady Side Academy. Of their nine total wins this season, seven of them were 5-0 sweeps.
The team is led by a strong senior class, which has played together since winning the WPIAL team title in 2023.
One of those seniors, Cami Fisher advanced to the WPIAL singles finals after 10-1, 10-1, and 6-1, 6-0 wins in the first rounds of the WPIAL 3A singles championships on Wednesday at North Allegheny High School.
In the section singles tournament on Sept. 18, seniors Cami Fisher and Mackenzie Smock each advanced to the championship match. With a 6-2 win, Fisher claimed her third straight Section 4, 3A singles title.
Fisher and Smock both advanced to the WPIAL singles championships. Smock won her first match 10-2 after losing to the No. 4 seed from North Allegheny in the quarterfinals.
Fisher will face the No. 1 seed McCargo of Shady Side Academy in the finals on her home court Thursday. McCargo is the returning WPIAL singles champion.
When asked what she's most excited about competing in the WPIAL championships, Fisher said, "I am looking forward to having the opportunity to compete in a high-level competition on my home courts."
Be sure to cheer for Fisher and the entire girls tennis team as they continue their commendable season.
