In January, Tommy DiRienzo, a senior guard at Penn State Behrend became the 24th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, achieving this feat with two made free throws against Penn State Altoona in the Lions' 86-48 victory.
Making the achievement all the more impressive, DiRienzo scored all his points in just three years, as his would-be freshman campaign, the 2020-2021 season, was wiped out due to the pandemic.
Scoring big is nothing new for DiRienzo. In a 2019 game versus Trinity, DiRienzo scored a school-record 51 points in a 107-80 Hawks win.
